Application Instructions

Application Information
The top applicants for each class will be selected based on the fulfillment of ALL requirements listed below and must stand out at a level beyond their peers. After top candidates have been placed, any remaining spots will be filled using a random lottery for all other qualified applicants. If all rosters fill to capacity, some students may not be selected for any of the programs.
Application Steps
01. Research Courses
It is important that you take the time to research each of the leadership courses offered at Kinard, so you can make an informed decision WITH your family on which classes and trips would be the best fit for you. Please visit each of the class websites below to learn more about each program. You can also see our program comparison chart for a quick look at all class topics, travel destinations, trip costs, teachers, etc.

The official leadership application cover sheet can be downloaded and printed below. If you do not have access to a printer, you can also pick up a hard copy in the cafeteria during lunch. Please read all of the information carefully before completing this page with your family's approval. After you have attached a picture, ranked your top classes, and signed the front commitments page, then read the instructions on the back to complete the written essays.
04. Print Your Grades
Part of being a leader is maintaining proficient grades and work habits. This is especially important as we take some time away from school to travel and for special projects. Navigate to StudentVue to print your first semester grades. You can do this by following these steps:

Click on GRADE BOOK on the left hand margin of StudentVue

Change the view to S1 by adjusting the drop-down menu located in the top right corner

Press CONTROL + P to print this view, or click on FILE, then PRINT on the top menu bar
Once you have printed a one page summary of your first semester grade report, attach it to the back of your hard copy application packet.
05. Teacher Input & Rankings
Teacher input and rankings are criteria that we value highly in our selection process. Please DO NOT ask your teachers for a recommendation, but know that we will be taking our final list of applicants to all 7th grade teachers to ask for input as part of our ranking process. There is nothing for you to do as a student for this step, but we just wanted you to be aware that your character, work ethic, and behavior in all your 7th grade classes is a big factor in our decision making.
06. Upload Your Video Due on or before Feb 2nd.
In addition to your application packet, we also would love to see your personality and leadership style shine in a Flipgrid video submission. Please navigate to www.flipgrid.com/kinardleadership for more instructions on how to produce your video. Don’t worry, once you hit submit, your video will be private and only viewable by our teacher team. No students will have public access to your application video.
07. Turn In Application Due on or before Feb 2nd.
After you have finished all of the steps listed above, it's time to turn in your hard copy application. Please hand your application directly to a leadership teacher in Room 524 for GL #1 or 420 for CARES #1.

Your final application packet should include the following items stapled in the order listed below:
